Portmeirion is recognized as one of the leading brands of tableware, cookware and gifts, thanks to its fashionable yet timeless collections. Founded by the legendary ceramic designer, Susan Williams-Ellis in 1960, Portmeirion’s philosophy has always been to design exciting, beautiful and unique products that are practical and of excellent quality. Portmeirion’s premise is to fit comfortably with the daily life of today’s consumer while maintaining its traditional hallmark. The brand continues to manufacture ceramics in the same factory in Stoke-on-Trent, acquired by Susan in 1960.
Portmeirion approached Superb after their previous agency had failed to deliver a working and functional Multi-Storefront Magento 2 solution. The project had incurred massive delays and was full of errors and conflict, which were preventing the sites from launching.
Superb started the process with a code review, assessing the site build against a vanilla installation of the same Magento Instance. We reviewed all extensions and coding and completing a QA review of the front end-user experience. We discovered a large amount of custom PHP and non-native programming, which was directly affecting the performance of the solution.
We implemented a technical roadmap to address the changes and successfully launched the solution. We have since improved user experience and the checkout process, which has had a direct impact on conversion and sales.
