Connecting TikTok and Shopify can help a brand manage its TikTok Shop alongside its online store. Shopify’s current integration supports catalogue, inventory, fulfilment and order synchronisation. But connecting the accounts is only one part of getting the channel ready to trade.
You still need accurate product information, stock that matches what you can fulfil, useful content and a clear view of the costs. This guide explains the two buying journeys and what to check before launch.
TikTok Shop sales and website sales are different
With TikTok Shop, customers buy through TikTok’s shopping experience. The Shopify connection helps manage the products and orders behind that experience.
Website campaigns send customers to your own store to buy. TikTok’s Smart+ Web campaigns, for example, support website conversion goals. You do not need to treat every TikTok campaign as a TikTok Shop campaign.
Choose the destination around the product, customer journey and economics of the sale. Keep the reporting separate enough to understand where orders are placed and what each channel costs.
Can UK Shopify stores connect to TikTok Shop?
Yes, subject to eligibility. Shopify lists the UK as a supported country. Its current requirements include a verifiable store address, an online store, a TikTok for Business account and a return policy displayed on the website. Products must also meet TikTok’s rules for the relevant market.
Check the latest Shopify TikTok Shop setup guidance before starting. Availability, verification requirements and product restrictions can change. Installing the channel does not mean every product will be approved for sale.
What the connection manages
The TikTok sales channel can sync your catalogue, inventory, fulfilment and orders between Shopify and TikTok Shop. That can reduce manual work, but it still needs checking against the way your business operates.
Review product titles, descriptions, images, variants and identifiers. Confirm which products will be sold through TikTok Shop and check that the right stock locations are connected. Agree who owns product corrections, order exceptions and customer queries.
If you already use another connector or feed tool, map what it controls before changing anything. Two systems updating the same stock or orders can make problems harder to trace.

How to set it up and check it
- Check eligibility. Review your store details, return policy and product range against the current requirements.
- Add the TikTok sales channel. Start from Shopify’s sales channel settings and use the TikTok app listed in the Shopify App Store.
- Connect and verify the business. Complete the account connection and the shop information checks requested during onboarding.
- Check the catalogue and stock. Review product information, variants, prices and inventory before making the range available.
- Follow the first orders. Track them through to Shopify, then confirm how fulfilment is updated and how cancellations, refunds and returns are handled for your market and account.
- Assign the day-to-day work. Give your team clear responsibility for trading, customer service, content and reporting.
If products will not sync, Shopify advises checking the warehouse or fulfilment location details. TikTok Shop requires valid address and phone information. Use the channel’s support route if the issue continues after those details are corrected.
Content and paid activity still need a plan
A connected catalogue does not give people a reason to buy. Choose products you can demonstrate clearly, build content around customer questions and make sure creator activity is coordinated with stock and offers.
For new Sales campaigns using TikTok Shop as the destination, TikTok uses GMV Max. Product GMV Max supports selected products; LIVE GMV Max supports shopping broadcasts. Website campaigns have a separate role and should be planned around the store’s landing pages and checkout.
Measure the result beyond reported revenue
Compare sales with advertising spend, discounts, platform fees, creator commission, fulfilment, product costs and returns. Use consistent reporting periods and avoid counting the same order twice across systems.
Product GMV Max can attribute organic and affiliate orders for promoted products while a campaign runs, even when the buyer has not engaged with an ad. Read TikTok’s GMV Max attribution guidance before treating its reported return as an advertising-only result. It is not a measure of profit.
